First, I take several digital photographs of the Christmas Village that I set up each year. (A village scene makes a really neat card, but you can do this with photos of any of your decorations at home, such as a wreath; a close-up of an ornament on your tree; or a decorated lamp post.)
Then, pick the one(s) you'd like as a card. If you have a paint (graphics) program, use it to add the effect of gently falling snow and a sentiment, if you like. You can also use the program to clean up tell-tale items that you don't want in the picture, like the wall in the background. If you don't have such a program, simply select a photo that you can crop out anything unwanted and then use silver or iridescent white glitter directly on the card to make snowfall. Do this by dotting glue from a common narrow-capped glue dispenser and dusting it with the glitter.
Finally, print it out. If you can, print it in card format on greeting card printer stock. If you don't have card-design software, just print it on nice paper. Then, trim it (or tear it gently for a different look) and paste on a coordinated color of festive paper stock, positioned so that you can fold it into a card. You can hand-write your sentiment on the border, if you like." ~ Dianne
