- Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
- Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Drinking Straws
- Beads
- Decorative Paper
- Decoupage Medium
- Monofilament, String, or Plastic Lace
- Paint Brush
- Scissors
Instructions:
Cut a piece of paper to fit the straw. Overlap the ends about an inch. You want the entire straw to be covered.
Attach the paper to the straw using decoupage medium and a paint brush. Seal the paper to the straw with a few thin layers of decoupage medium. Let the decoupage medium dry completely.
Once the straw is dry, cut it into pieces creating your own beads. They can be cut whatever size you want them. You can then string them onto whatever kind of string you want to create jewelry.
Mary created the necklace here using paper straw beads, regular beads, and some charms that look like ice cream cones.
