The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Heavy Cardstock or Foam Board
- Number Templates (Optional)
- Crayons or Marker
- Craft Glue
- Scissors
- Small Objects (Suggestions Below)
Instructions:
Because of the small objects used in this craft it is not recommended for kids who still put 'everything' in their mouths.
Start out by cutting large numbers 1 - 9 out of cardstock or foam board. Your best bet is to use these number templates.
Let your child practice writing the number on each cut-out. They can also color on it using crayons and markers. Gather small objects you can have the child glue on the numbers such as beads, buttons, small pom-poms, cereal, noodles, paper clips, pebbles, etc. Encourage your child to glue the corresponding number of items on each cut out number.
Once all of the glue is dry hang the numbers up and practice counting, math, or putting the smaller numbers together to make larger numbers.
