How to Make Cereal Jewelry

Cereal Jewelry Craft

Sherri Osborn
This is a fun and simple activity that can even be a snack! Just let the kids keep threading the cereal onto the chenille stems until they get bored, and then they can eat them.

  • Age Guideline: 2 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 10 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

  • Any Cereal with a Hole in the Center (Cheerios, Fruit Loops, etc.)
  • Chenille Stems

Instructions:
Set out a pile of chenille stems and bowls full of different cereals.

Curl up one end of a chenille stem. Show the child how to thread the cereal onto the chenille stem then let them at it! Allow them to fill as few or as many chenille stems as they want. To make a bracelet, once a chenille stem is full enough to fit around the child's wrist, twist both ends together and the child can slip it on his/her wrist. Two or more chenille stems can be attached to each other to form a necklace.

The child can snack as they go and he/she can also bite the cereal off the jewelry and even refill it.
