The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Craft Foam
- 1/4-Inch Thick Ribbon
- Hook and Loop Tape
- Craft Foam Letters
- Craft Glue
- Scissors
- Hole Puncher
Instructions:
Cut the craft foam so it is approximately 6 1/2" x 12". Fold the piece in half so it is 6 1/2" x 6". You will use a hole puncher and make holes about a 1/2-inch from the side through both thicknesses of craft foam. (You may have to punch one hole and then line up the craft foam to punch the other hole evenly.) Start on one side near the folded edge and work up that side with your punches about an inch apart. Now, start on the other side, near the fold, and punch holes up that edge directly across from the holes on the other side.
Cut 2 pieces of ribbon, at least 24-inches long. Starting at the top of the CD holder (the un-punched edge that is open), thread one end of the ribbon through the first set of holes so there is at least 6-inches left hanging. Thread the same end of the ribbon through the next set of holes, starting from the same side as the first hole so you almost get a spiral effect going down the side of the CD case. When you get to the last hole, work your way back up in the same fashion. Tie the ribbon ends together when it makes it back through the top hole. Trim the ribbon ends so they are even. Lace the second side like you did the first.
Cut a small piece of both the hook and the loop tape, about a 1/2-inch squared. Glue the back side of each piece just inside the top edge of the CD case so it can be closed. Let the glue dry.
Use the craft foam letters, or anything else you like, to personalize your CD case.
