"Most people in the tri-state area of PA, DE & NJ have heard of the Mummer's Parade that takes place every New Year's Day in Philadelphia. My son wanted to be a Mummer and I told him he needed to pick an animal....obviously he chose a black cat. The circle of cardboard is mounted on a backpack, which also holds a hidden CD player with Mummer music. The cats on the front are made from paper plates & feather boas, silver pipe cleaners...and since no mummer's costume would be complete without mirrors, there is aluminum foil diamonds inserted. The black sweat suit is donned with sequins and no Mummer would show up without their golden slippers (spray painted old sneakers). The back is more cardboard shapes and more silver pipe cleaners."
