"We made this Halloween costume for our ship enthusiast, Donovan age 6. We originally began with cardboard, but had difficulty shaping it into what we wanted. We then used thick poster board and colored duct tape. We took a picture of a cruise ship and had it enlarged in black and white at our local copy center. We made the smoke stack out of poster board and put a wire in it with batting on the end to look like smoke. Cut port holes in the side and used colored transparency to cover. You cannot tell from the picture, but we poked tea lights through the ship picture around both sides, so it would light up at night. We got fabric to look like water and glue gunned it to more cardboard, then used Velcro to stick it to the bottom of the ship. Suspenders held it on his shoulders. Children who saw it wanted a ride in the ship. Now we aren’t sure where to dock it!" ~ Christine.
