Find out how to create an alien craft using a light bulb and a few other supplies. You can make several of these alien heads and they can invade your house or decorate a party. Place them so they are peeking out from behind fixtures and furniture, out of bowls filled with treats or anywhere else they may surprise any visitors.

  • Age Guideline: 6 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 60 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
I put 3 layers of paper mache on my light bulb first. Read this article about how to paper mache.

Lay done a piece of newspaper or wax paper on your work surface as this can be messy! Use paper mache techniques to cover the light bulb with three 2 or 3 layers. If you prefer you can skip the paper mache, but then you need to be very careful that your ligt bulb does not break.

Once the paper mache is dry, paint your new ‘alien head’ any color you desire, green works well! While the paint is drying, draw a teardrop shape on black craft foam or felt and cut it out. Glue them in place. Add two small, black dots for the nostrils.
