Paper Mache Tweety Pinata

Nancy Dolan
From Nancy - "For my daughter's 8th birthday, she wanted to do a Tweety Bird theme. I made this pinata using a large punching balloon which I covered in newspaper paper mache. I reinforced around the hole of the balloon so that I could add a string to hang it later. After it was dry, I broke the balloon and removed it. To decorate it, I cut pieces of yellow tissue paper in to about 2" squares, wrapped them over the end of a pencil, dipped the ends in glue and pressed them on to the paper mache. I made a couple of holes in the top on either side of the hole and ran a string. To make the face, I cut the design out of construction paper and glued it on. The beak was folded slightly to give a 3D effect.

One word of caution: Don't put on too many layers of paper mache like I did, or the kids won't be able to break it!"
