Dangling Bead Pencil Craft

Follow these simple directions and decorate a pencil using ribbon and beads. You won't believe how easy it is to dress up your pencil.

  • Age Guideline: 6 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 15 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Carefully remove the eraser from the end of the pencil and set it aside.

Cut a piece of ribbon about 8-inches long. String one bead onto the ribbon, hold both ends together and push the bead into the center of the ribbon loop. String other beads as desired by pushing both ends of the ribbon through each hole and push the beads down to rest on the first one. Once you have the bead design you want, trim the ends of the ribbon so there is about 1-inch extra left.

Put a few drops of glue into the eraser hole on the end of the pencil. Lay the ends of the ribbon into the eraser hole and then gently work the eraser back into the hole, on top of the ribbon. Let the glue dry.
