- Time Required: 45 minutes (Does not include drying time)
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Small, Wooden Chest
- 1" Wooden Craft Knob
- 3/4" Wooden Craft Knob
- Chenille Stem
- Wiggle Eyes
- Feathers
- Rhinestones
- Paint
- Craft Glue
- Paint Brush
Instructions:
Paint the treasure chest brown or whatever color you desire. Paint both crafts knobs green or any other ‘parrot’ color. Let the paint dry completely.
Glue the 3/4" painted knob, hole side down, on top of the 1" knob. Cut a piece of chenille stem approximately 2" long; fold it in half and then fold it in half again. Glue it on to be the parrot’s beak. Glue on 2 wiggle eyes and then glue on feathers to resemble the tail feathers and wings.
Open the treasure chest and glue the parrot onto the edge of the treasure chest. If the lid will not sit at a 90 degree angle you can glue it to the side of the parrot’s body. Glue rhinestones onto the treasure chest to decorate however you like. Top it off by filling the treasure chest with chocolate coins!
