ColorArtz T-Shirt

ColorArtz T-Shirt

This is one of the crafts I tried and enjoyed at the CHA Super Craft Show. I was anxious to share it with you because I think it is a great craft activity for families because it is something that people of all ages can do and enjoy. It would also be a great project for parties, camps, and classrooms.

While I would not put this into a cheap or frugal craft category, you can buy a complete starter kit for about $29.99. The starter kit includes a ColorArtz airbrush, airbrush propellant, and three paints pouches. The folks at Testor told me, "The ColorArtz Starter Kit provides everything needed for up to 3 tie-dyed t-shirts or 4 sq ft of craft projects." At the CHA Super Craft Show I was the third in line to use the same can of the airbrush propellant and it seemed to still be going strong when I was done with it. I used three different colors, all fairly lightly, and didn't seem to put much of a dent in the paint pouches.

More than the affordability of not having to invest in expensive equipment to try your hand at airbrushing, I loved how easy this airbrush system was to use. Even the youngest kids can easily create their own airbrushed masterpieces. All you have to do is attach the airbrush to the airbrush propellant and then attach a paint pouch onto the airbrush. A curved slot on the airbrush snaps when a paint pouch is inserted, letting you know it’s properly attached and ready to spray. You can change from one to color to another simply by snapping off one pouch and snapping on another, the the best of part this is that you can change colors with virtually no cleanup!

The design of the airbrush makes it comfortable to use. It was easy to direct the paint where I wanted it to go, but you might want to practice just a little bit. When airbrushing an item with both a front and back, you only need to let one side sit for a few moments before you paint the other side, although you will want it to completely dry before you wear it (mine took about a half and hour) and wait for at least 24 hours before washing it. Many will be happy to hear that the paint paint is non-toxic and eco-friendly.

Colorartz airbrush system comes to us from the Testor Corporation, who has been manufacturing products for hobby, craft, and home decorating for more than seven decades. Besides getting the Colorartz airbrush and propellant, they offer more than 30 paint colors and a variety of stencils. The only thing you have to provide is a plain white t-shirt or other item to airbrush!
