Guide Review - Brother P-Touch 1280 Labeling System
Anyone who knows me knows that my passion for organizing anything and everything is only second to my passion for crafting and this handheld labeler is perfect for using in either of these activities. Its uses are only limited by your imagination, certainly not by the wide variety of tape colors, sizes and styles available. It came with a starter roll of tape, laminated black ink on white tape, but you will definitely want to try some of the other tapes available. Besides the laminated tape, I look forward to trying the fabric iron-on tape and the acid free adhesive tape. You can even buy super narrow non-laminated tape that is perfect for labeling CD case spines. This labeler has a large 15 character display and can print labels up to a half an inch wide on one or two lines. The PT-1280 has 5 framing options, 6 auto formats, 9 type styles, and 3 type sizes which adjust to the tape width. There are 3 'favorites' keys you can use to save your most commonly used labels for easy recall. Once your label prints out, you can cut it easily using the built-in, manual cutter. The labeler runs on either 6 AAA batteries or an AC adaptor (not included).
I have been having so much fun playing with this labeler that I almost didn't want to take a break to post this review! It is so easy to use I was able to print out my first label without even reading the directions. I was pleased to discover the paper backing on the label easily peeled away when I was ready to attach my label to its new home. So far, they have stuck to everything I have tried them on. Now, I am anxiously waiting to get my hands on some of the other styles of tape to see what I can create. The cost of the label tapes is a little on the expensive side, but I certainly think it is worth it.
