Lion Finger Puppet Craft

Lion Finger Puppet Craft

Start out by making a lion finger puppet and then use the same techniques to make other animals and even people. Your whole family can take turns putting on fun puppet shows.

  • Age Guideline: 6 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
Start out by cutting the brown chenille stem into twelve 1" pieces. Put a dab of glue on the end of one of the brown chenille pieces and stick it into the 1" tan pom-pom. Repeat this with the other 11 chenille stem pieces, forming a circle around the pom-pom to be the lion’s mane.

Glue the black pom-pom onto the center of the tan pom-pom. This will be the lion’s nose. Glue the wiggle eyes on just above the nose. Cut two 1" pieces of tan chenille stem. Bend them into small “V” shapes and glue them just above the eyes to be the lion’s ears.

Put a dab of glue onto the 1 1/2" pom-pom. Set the lower back of the head, behind the mane, onto the glue. Let the glue dry.

Now you can make the lion’s arms and legs. Using the tan chenille stem you cut the ears off of, cut two 2" pieces and two 3" pieces. Glue the 2" chenille pieces in place to be the arms and the 3" pieces towards the bottom of the 1 1/2" pom-pom to be the legs. Bend the very ends of the arms and legs into a small curl.

Using the other tan chenille stem, wrap it around your finger to make it a spiral shape. Carefully slide it off your finger and glue it to the bottom of your lion's body, between the legs.

Once all the glue is dry you can carefully slide the spiral chenille stem onto the end of your finger and put on a puppet show!
