- Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
- Time Required: 30+ minutes (Does not include drying time)
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Straw Hat (you can Experiment with other types of hats)
- Puzzle Pieces
- Lace or Other Trim
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Scissors
Instructions:
Start out by using lace or other trim to decorate your hat anyway you want. Susannah added pink lace all around the brim, by gluing it on. Careful! Glue is really hot and lace doesn't offer much protection.
Start gluing on puzzle pieces, one at a time, beginning at the rim and moving toward the center crown. You can do yours in nice, even rows or circles, or any other pattern you want to follow. Susannah's goal was to cover every square inch of the exposed hat. Carefully add one puzzle piece of puzzle at a time, and frequently step back to see if you like the look of your hat.
Once it is done, it makes a wonderful wall decoration, but first Susannah's was in a parade as she danced and sang with a bunch of other very brave souls at a bible study party. She also wore it while she sang a song she had written for a talent show, called "I'm Puzzled: a Song in four parts with three generations".
