Scrabble Tile Coaster Craft

One of the first things that popped into my mind when I decided to make some Scrabble tile crafts was drink coasters. I figured it would be a fast and easy way to make custom coasters that could share a fun message. I think these would not only be fun to use, but they would also make great gifts. You can write the same message I did, "Eat, Drink, and Be Merry", or any message you like. You could even write out names.

• Time Required: 60 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed to Make a Scrabble Tile Coasters:

• Craft Foam or Felt
• Scrabble Tiles (compare prices)
• Craft Glue
• Varnish
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Foam Paint Brush

Scrabble Tile Coaster Instructions:

Start off by laying out your scrabble tiles how you want them to look when your coaster is done. Make sure all of the sides are touching and then measure your tiles across and down. Use these measurements and cut out a piece of craft foam or felt that size.

Spread a generous amount of glue over the craft foam or felt. Carefully place the Scrabble tiles, in order, onto the glue. Grab a toothpick and use it to spread some glue from the craft foam or felt up onto the sides of the Scrabble tiles so they stick to the tile next to them. If any glue gets on top of the tiles, wipe them off with a damp cloth. Set this aside and let the glue dry completely.

Once the glue is dry, use the foam brush to cover the tiles with a couple thin layers of varnish. Make sure you let the first layer dry completely before adding the second. Once the varnish is dry you can use your coaster.
