From Judy: "I made four stones at a time. I first greases each tray with vasoline, sides and bottom, then I cut chicken wire to fit each tray (this is what I had on hand, I believe I will try screen door screen next time, I think it would be easier to work with). I mixed finishing cement (this is the cement that doesn't have pebbles in it.) with water to the consistency of cookie dough. Next I filled a tray half full of cement and smoothed over then placed a piece of wire on top pressing it into the cement then fill the rest of the tray with cement. Be sure and tap the sides to release any air bubble and smooth over the top as best you can.
I usually start working on another tray, allowing the first tray to set up a bit before I put in my embellishments. When I have all four trays filled I will return to the first tray and add my stones, glass, whatever and just continue on to the next stone. Be sure to have your stones sitting on a lever surface so your stones will dry level. DO NOT move your stones for at least 3 days. At that time you can take your trays off the stones and they can be set somewhere to dry completely for at least a week."
I hope you enjoy making your own garden stepping stone and then send in a photo to have it featured here.
