Football Team Placemat Craft

If you are throwing a football themed birthday party or a Super Bowl party, or if you just love football, consider making one of these colorful placemats. Create them using your favorite team's colors and then you can even decorate them with a team logo.

• Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
• Time Required: 45 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

• Construction Paper
• Cellophane Tape
• White Glue
• Clear Con-Tact Paper
• Scissors

Instructions:
Cut 10 strips of construction paper, each should be approximately 2-inches thick and 24-inches long. Lay them down side-by-side and secure the top ends to your owrk surface with pieces of tape (Figure 1).

Cut 12 strips of paper from a different color, each should be approximately 2-inches wide by 22-inches long. Weave each piece through the taped pieces until you get your completed placemat (Figure 2).

Once you are done weaving your placemat, find the matching graphic for your favorite team, print it out, and glue it on your placemat. Once you get the design the way you want to, cover both sides with clear contact paper and your placemat will last for a long time.
