Butterfly Necklace
Make a Butterfly-shaped necklace using a clothespin.

Materials Needed:

  • Clothespin
  • Paint or Markers
  • Tissue Paper
  • Small Wiggle Eyes
  • Glue
  • Tape
  • Pipecleaner
  • Yarn or Very Thin Ribbon
Instructions:
Paint the clothespin black or brown. Set it aside to dry.

Cut three 6 inch x 6 inch squares of tissue paper. You can use 3 different colors, the same colors, or multi-colored tissue paper. These will be the butterflies wings.

Once your clothespin is dry, you need to add the wings. Lay all 3 pieces of tissue paper together and then pinch them in the center to look like a bow tie:

With a small piece of tape, attached the part of the tissue paper your pinched together to the clothesepin. Tape it inside the half of the clothespin you squeeze, just below the spring.

Use the pipecleaner to make the antenna. Cut a piece of pipecleaner about 6 inches long. String this through one of the gaps in the top part of the clothespin (the part that pinches). Twist each side tightly around the other to hold it in place and shape the anntenna the way you want it.

Next, glue on the wiggle eyes. To complete your project, cut a length or yarn or ribbon to fit around your neck and tie the 2 ends together. Clip the butterfly onto the yarn!

(This project actually turns out much cuter than my horrible attempts at drawing the pictures! :-)
