To draw your own coloring pages, you should start with a plain, white sheet of paper, a pencil, and a black marker. I usually sketch my picture on the paper lightly using a pencil. Once I am happy with the design, I trace over it with the marker. I then scan the picture. I usually save it in .jpg format on my desktop so I know where to find it. Finally, I open it with my graphics program and play with it until I am happy with the way it looks.
Another way you can make coloring pages is to scan pictures from magazines, coloring books, etc. This is a fun way to make coloring pages; however, because of copyright laws, scan and print them only for your personal use. Once a picture is scanned, you can simply open it in a graphics program and print it out if it is just black and white. If it is a colored picture, you can usually remove the color using a graphics program. Play around with it and see what you can come up with!
Finally, you can find an enormous selection of free printable coloring book pages online. You can print out an assortment and bind them together using staples or you can punch holes along one edge and tie them together using ribbon or yarn. You can also make a cover for your coloring book!
