Cindy explains how to make a unique leprechaun complete with growing hair!

Materials Needed:

  • 5-inch styrofoam cup
  • Planting soil
  • Grass seed
  • Green construction paper
  • Black construction paper
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Black marker

Instructions:
You need to put the dirt in the styrofoam cup, then put in your grass seed. Cover the grass seed by gently mixing it with your finger. Water your grass so it will grow. This will become your leprechaun's hair.

Wipe off the outside of your cup. Cut a Leprechaun hat out of the green and black construction paper. Glue the hat at the top of the styrofoam cup being careful not to cover the top where the grass will grow. Glue on the wiggle eyes. Also, with the green construction paper, cut out some leprechaun ears, then glue them on the each side of your cup. Use a black permanent marker to draw a nose and mouth.

Now, simply water and watch as your leprechaun grow's it's own hair!!! A great science and fine motor activity.
