How to Make a Photo Collage

Photo Collage Craft

One of the funnest things to use in a collage are real photos. A photo collage can make great mementos and also wonderful gifts.

  • Age Guideline: 3 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 20 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

It is easy to make your own photo collage. Pick and choose the photos you want to use and start gluing them in place on your paper. You can just choose photos randomly or you can make collages that follow along with a specific theme, such as friends, cousins, family, pets, etc. For a collage you can hang up and display, used a stretched canvas instead of paper.

One suggestion, you might want to make photo copies of the original pictures instead of using the photo itself. Not only will this allow you to preserve the original photo, a photo copy of it will stick better than a photo. On occasions, I have had trouble with photos bubbling because it takes too long for the glue to dry. If you do use the photo, use the glue sparingly mainly around the edge of the photo. Do not use a photo copied or printed using an ink jet printer because the ink can bleed when it gets wet from the glue.
