Bottle Cap Rattles Craft

How to Make a Musical Instrument Using Bottle Caps

By

` Read these instructions shared by a visitor named Keri and see how easy it is to make musical rattle by nailing some bottle caps to a dowel.

  • Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

  • Metal Bottle Caps
  • 1-inch Thick Dowel
  • Nails
  • Hammer

Instructions:
Cut dowel or stick to whatever length you desire. If you don't have a dowel, you can use an old broom stick.

Take metal bottle caps and punch holes in the centers, remove any cork or plastic from the bottle caps. Then, nail two bottle caps, back to back, loosely to the dowel. These are nailed onto the side of the dowel or broomstick very close to the end. Add as many sets to the dowel as you desire, at least 4 sets work well.

To play your bottle cap rattle, gently tap the bottom (farthest away from the bottle cap sets) on a tabletop, floor, or hand.
