- Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
- Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Tennis Ball
- Yarn or Strong String
- Acrylic Paint
- Glitter
- Sequins
- 2 CDs
- Yarn Needle Craft Glue
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Scissors
Instructions:
Cut the tennis ball in half. You can use a heavy duty pair of scissors or a hack saw. Only adults should use a hack saw!
Thread a piece of yarn or strong thread onto a yarn needle. Push the needle through center ('dome') of one of the tennis ball halves. If it is too hard to get the needle through the ball, use a utility knife to poke a small hole in the tennis ball first. The the end of the yarn or string on the inside of the tennis gall. Secure it with a dab of glue.
Paint both halves of the tennis ball using acrylic paint. Sylrayj suggests sticking the glitter and sequins to the wet paint to adhere it to the ball. I would suggest that once the glue is dry, decorate it with glitter, sequins, or anything else you like. Make sure you are very generous with the glue! Let the glue dry.
Glue the two CDs together, label sides in. Glue both halves of the tennis ball, opposite each other, to the CDs to look like a glittery UFO!
Once the glue is dry, you can hang your alien creation in a bright place and watch it sparkle.
