Dr. Seuss' Cat-in-The-Hat Hat

By , About.com Guide

Create a wearable, paper hat you can wear to look like Dr. Seuss' Cat-in-The-Hat.

Materials Needed:

  • Construction Paper (red and white)
  • Posterboard
  • Glue
  • Tape or Stapler

Instructions:
Cut a white piece of construction paper into strips that are approximately 2" x 8 1/2". Cut a 2-inch strip from the poster board that is long enough to fit around your head.

Glue some of the white strips onto a red piece of construction paper. Try to keep them evenly spaces, and leave about 2-inches of red on the bottom edge so you can cut it to look like a brim. Now, glue the red piece of construction paper to posterboard. Let the glue dry.

Once the glue is dry, cut it into a hat shape like that to the right. Staple or glue the center bottom of the hat onto the center of the posterboard strip. Once the hat is attached to the band, staple or tape the ends of the band strip together to snuggly fit around your fore head.
