Top 10 Crafts for Elementary School Kids

I picked out these craft projects especially for elementary school kids, those kids from age 6 to age 11. Some are educational and others are just plain fun! While I give the age suggestions for these crafts, the best judge as to whether your child can handle these crafts or not is you. Your goal is to have them enjoy themselves without getting frustrated.

1. Alphabet Book

Kids can learn and create a fun book at the same time. The fun in this project is with the process! Encourage creativity and individuality.

2. Animal Face Magnets

Use the suggestions here to encourage kids to create a variety of animal magnets using plastic lids and a variety of embellishment items.

3. Apple Prints

Let kids try their hand at printmaking by making these nice prints using apples and other fruits.

4. Doctor Bag Craft

These instructions will show kids how to make a pretend doctor bag using paper. Make a variety of items to fill the doctor bag!

5. Feather Face Pencil

Kids can display their creativity and uniqueness everyday in class with these fancy, homemade pencils.

6. Finger Cymbals

Show kids how they can turn 2 ordinary jar lids into a fun musical instrument. The best thing is that these cymbals are not too loud!

7. Puff Paint Recipe

This can be a two part activity. Most kids will enjoy helping to make the paint mixture, and then they will enjoy painting with it!

8. Recycled Critters

This is a great open ended craft. You don't show the kids how to do it, you simply provide them with a variety of recycled items and basic craft supplies and then encourage them to recycle creatively.

9. Sand Casting

Let kids try their hand at sand casting with these easy instructions.

10. Stained Glass Window Picture

Kids can make a fancy picture using only a piece of paper and crayons.
