Name of Costume
Meet the Flinstones
Materials Needed
Costumes: Fabric, no sew iron together strips, colored hair spray.
Car: Plywood(the whole car was basically made from plywood), Swim Noodles (when you cut them in half, we were able to glue them to the plywood for the sides of the car to give it that 3 dimensional shape), Epoxy ( this was used to cover the swim noodles. Once dried you can spray paint over it and it looks like a real wooden log), Spray paint, Fabric (for the seat), Cardboard tubes (for the front and back tire and then spray painted), Burlap for the top covering, Twine (used for purely decoration, could do without), Wii Wheel was used for the steering wheel (of course we spray painted it), and to make the car roll we bought wheels from home depot and bolted them to the bottom of the car.
Kids Cooperation: LOLLIPOPS this was indeed a must for our Bam-Bam and Pebbles! :o)
Instructions
These are some of the cutest kids from bedrock. Everything here is homemade, from the costumes to the car. We tried to keep the costumes as close to the cartoon flick as possible. The costumes were pretty easy to put together but the car was a different story. Luckily my husband is pretty handy and very good at making all sorts of things. When I came to him with the idea to do this, he was thrilled but once he started he couldn't wait to finish it. It turned out so great and once we got the Flinstone crew in it, it was so adorable!
Tips and Tricks
- The best tip I could give someone who is wanting to copy this car is to start early. We started a month and half before Halloween and we were putting finishing details on it up until the last minute!
